History of EFT

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), also known as Tapping, is a therapeutic tool that combines elements of cognitive therapy and exposure therapy with acupressure. It is designed to alleviate psychological stress, emotional disturbances, and physical pain by tapping on specific points on the body, often referred to as acupuncture points or meridian points. The technique is rooted in the concept that negative emotions are caused by disruptions in the body’s energy system, and by addressing these disruptions, EFT aims to restore balance and promote healing.

Founding A New Science

Gary Craig is a pioneer in the field of energy psychology and the creator of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), commonly known as Tapping. With a background in engineering and a passion for personal development, Gary Craig sought to develop a simple, yet effective, healing technique that could address a wide range of emotional and physical issues. His journey led him to study under Dr. Roger Callahan, the founder of Thought Field Therapy (TFT), which served as the foundation for what would later become EFT.

EFT, developed by Gary Craig in the 1990s, is a self-help tool that combines the principles of ancient Chinese acupuncture with modern psychology. Instead of using needles, EFT involves tapping on specific acupuncture points on the body while focusing on a particular issue or emotion. This process is designed to release blockages in the body’s energy system, which are believed to be the root cause of emotional and physical distress.
